Camping Engagement Session in Hatfield Hollow with Lauren Ann & Steve

Do you ever find yourself with writer’s-block? Not because you can’t think of anything to say, but because you have so much to say that all of your thoughts are firing so fast that the become the mental version of a word-cloud, but like a word-cloud on a word-cloud on a word-cloud, mashed together and stirred in a pot… Yeah? You have? Great! I’m so glad you can identify: that’s me right now. Because, wait for it…

Two of my best friends are getting married!
(And I made it happen!)

If you roll back the clock to this time two years ago, these two were just a blip on each other’s radar. They had both been through some tough times with their relationships over the previous few years, and at some point in that time I had considered them as a good match for each other. But they were always otherwise committed. But in the summer of 2014, they were both at a place where it was at least… plausible.

I’ll leave out the awkward set-up details, but once it started, they couldn’t stop: by the end of the fall, they were experiencing that feeling that so many made-for-each-other couples know so well: not being able to remember how they got through life before they were together. Quickly they found themselves with their lives merged into one and, as they say: that was that.

While Kristen, our kids, and I moved away and to Franklin later that year, we’ve celebrated every step along the way with LA + Steve from afar via phone calls, and we made it a point to get together every time that I had to be back in Connecticut last year (during one of which we got together to shoot this lovely camping engagement session. While we won’t be the lens-men at their wedding (we wanted to be guests), we’re beyond thrilled that we’ll be celebrating their nuptials with them in less than 48 hours!
