You might want to take a seat. Get comfy: you’re bound to be here a while. This wedding is particularly special to me, as, in a way, it takes it all back to to the beginning. I first set foot in Mystic Connecticut in 2003 after, in nearby Groton, welcoming my brother home from his first deployment with the US Navy. That evening, as we dined at a local-favorite tavern, little did I know that Connecticut would soon become my home for much of the next decade and more.
And, so, it is fitting that the last wedding I booked as a resident of the Nutmeg State would all go down in that same little region. And, I’ll admit I was a little misty-eyed as I stood on the Bascule Bridge that crosses the Mystic River that morning and realized that it could be a long time until I once again return to the lands and people that I have grown to love so much.
Here’s a not-so-little secret for you: while I may have met Allison & Tim late in my time in New England, I count them among some of the best friends I’ve made. From our very first coffee-shop date were I essentially said “I’m moving to Tennessee, please hire me anyway.” to an evening of apps and drinks at Cask Republic in Stamford, and through their entire wedding weekend, they have shown me their love for life every step of the way. It may, in fact, be impossible to do anything other than adore Allison & Tim, as they welcome you into their lives and treat you as a friend from the very first moment the greet you.
The story that I wanted to tell for Allison & Tim became so much more about their joy. They had planned their wedding-day with such deep, heartfelt intention as they intended to celebrate. And that is exactly as it was: on the last cool-New-England-summer weekend of 2015, they gathered with their family to share every gift with which God has blessed them.
Even though I was there, I lived it, I documented it, seeing these shots collected all together makes me yearn to go back for just one more day and to live in the joy of this love-story once more.
Allison/Tim: thank you for taking the leap of faith to book me under such odd circumstance, and you, along with your very gracious families, have my heartfelt appreciation for all your kindnesses as you welcomed me and my camera into this milestone of your lives.
